KFC Gets Ready to Say Goodbye to Some Favorites from its Nationwide Menu

KFC is making some changes to its nationwide menu, and sadly, that means some beloved items are getting axed from the nationwide menu.

Fast food giant KFC is making some big changes to its nationwide menu, which means some fan favorites are getting the boot. Though they recently added a spin on their popular Twister Wrap, the chain is now preparing to remove items such as Kentucky Fried Chicken Wings, Popcorn Chicken, Nashville Hot Sauce, Strawberry Lemonade, and Chocolate Chip Cookies from their lineup.

Why, you ask? Well, according to Brittany Wilson, director of KFC U.S., the company is simplifying its menu to make ordering easier and create a more efficient kitchen for the staff. This move is meant to streamline the drive-thru experience, which KFC is already dominating. In fact, an annual drive-thru study conducted by Intouch Insight last fall found that KFC had the fastest total drive-thru time compared to other major chains like McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A.

But what about those poor souls who crave KFC’s popcorn chicken and Nashville hot sauce? Fear not, dear readers. KFC promises that these menu changes will make room for some new, exciting additions in 2023. So, while you might have to say goodbye to your favorite chicken wings and strawberry lemonade for now, there’s still hope for the future.

While some KFC staples like pot pies and tenders are here to stay, many are concerned about the fate of the KFC Famous Bowls, which typically feature popcorn chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, and shredded cheese. Will they be cut from the menu too? Nexstar’s WTAJ reached out to KFC for comment, but the company has yet to respond. The suspense is killing us!

In any case, it’s clear that KFC is shaking things up in a big way. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of their chicken wings or a lover of their chocolate chip cookies, it’s always tough to see a favorite go. But who knows? Maybe KFC’s new menu additions will blow our minds and make us forget all about the wings we used to know. Only time will tell.
